Let's Catch Up..

Since my last blog post, there have been some pretty big events.

Since then I:

  • left my old job of 3 years and started at a new one last January

  • did not attend as many concerts as I did in 2022 but every one I attended last year was just as special

  • flew out of the country for 3 days to see two of those concerts (Lizzy McAlpine and Joshua Bassett)

  • saw Taylor Swift for the first time and got to live out my 8 year old fantasy

  • finally got to meet Kiana Ledé after 5 years and see her not just once but got to live it out again at the second night of her NYC run as well.

Oh yeah, and this has nothing to do with me personally but Reneé Rapp is also currently taking over the music industry .🎉

2023 was a big year for music and personally some of my favorite albums came out of it.

Here's a list of my top 3 albums of 2023 and my top 3 songs from each of those.

Sunburn by Dominic Fike: 4x4, Bodies, 7 hours

Grudges by Kiana Ledé: Promise Me, Deeper, Jealous (with Ella Mai)

Snow Angel (Deluxe) by Reneé Rapp: Poison Poison, Snow Angel, Messy

(Here's a Spotify playlist incase you wanted to give any of those a listen https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7Dlb34wwCgOqzaxvvI0ga9?si=P8cNw7buQp2kaj_558tpOQ&pi=u-gr1lIb7XSeCL ).

There were other great albums from last year that I loved (honorable mention for Guts by Olivia Rodrigo) but there was something special about these 3 that stuck with me and have made their way to becoming a part of my daily listening habits.

2023 was also a big year for music in terms of making history. In 2023, Taylor Swift "became the first woman with four albums in the Billboard chart top 10

simultaneously" (StarsInsider, 2023), Beyoncé was named the most decorated Grammy winner in the Award Show's history, and Reneé Rapp had the biggest solo debut album by a women in 2023. So it's safe to say that 2023 was a good year for women's music and 2024 is just getting started.

Can't wait to keep you updated on all the news. Stay tuned to see what else pop culture and Hollywood Hal has in store this year.
